Registered voters living abroad remain on the register for 10 years. The 10-year period is calculated from the date on which the voter was entered in the register, but the 10-year period restarts if the voter has voted or requested a change of address for notification or of the place of receipt of the voting package, or an extension of their entry in the register.

After 10 years, or upon the death of the voter, or upon the termination of their Hungarian citizenship, or if a Hungarian court excludes them from voting, the voter living abroad must be removed from the register.
