National Election Office
The National Election Office was established upon the entry into force of Act XXXVI of 2013 on Electoral Procedure. The Office is headed by a president, who is appointed by the President of the Republic on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
This independent, autonomous administrative institution, which is subject only to the law, is responsible for performing central tasks related to the preparation and conduct of elections. Similar to other election offices, the NEO performs tasks related to providing non-partisan information to voters, candidates, and nominating organizations, assists the work of the National Election Commission, ensures that the material and technical conditions necessary for the conduct of elections are in place, and directs the work of regional and local election offices.
