A key phase of voting at foreign representations has been completed: ballot boxes containing votes cast in 149 cities around the world have arrived safely and intact in Hungary. This makes it possible to begin processing the votes cast abroad.

Recount ordered in the Keszthely single-member constituency
Pursuant to its decision 28/2026 (IV. 13.), adopted on 13 April 2026, the Election Commission of the Zala County Single-Member Constituency no. 2 (Keszthely) ordered a recount of the votes cast on 12 April 2026 in the Keszthely single-member constituency.

Voting has concluded in the general parliamentary elections

Voting at foreign representations has begun and has already concluded at several locations
Due to the time difference, voting at foreign representations for the 2026 general parliamentary elections has already begun at several locations and has even concluded in some places. On the American continent, the first polling stations opened on Saturday, April 11, at 6 a.m. local time, 11 a.m. according to Central European Time. New Zealand and Australia followed the American continent.

Election bodies are ready to conduct the vote
The election bodies are prepared to conduct voting both domestically and at foreign representations, furthermore, postal voting is proceeding in accordance with legal requirements.

Announcement of preliminary results
In the event of a close result, the outcome of the election may only become known as late as the Saturday following the vote, once 100% of the votes have been processed.

Voters with disabilities are provided with several forms of assistance by law to exercise their right to vote.

Important deadlines for voters are coming up on April 2
Several deadlines are due on 2 April 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in connection with the 2026 general parliamentary elections. Voters have until this time to submit their applications for absentee voting, inclusion in the register of national minorities, and inclusion in the register of foreign representations, and to request a Braille ballot for the election.

Postal voting has begun: postal voting packages are available for in-person collection from 28 March
From 28 March 2026, postal voting packages will be available for collection for voters eligible for postal voting. Voters who have not received their postal voting packages by mail may personally request a replacement from 5 April 2026 at any foreign representation or at any single-member constituency election office in Hungary.
