The venue and the process of taking part in the elections depend mainly on whether you have a residence in Hungary or not. Primarily, you can vote in the elections at the polling station according to your address. Though regarding the type of elections you have different opportunities, if you would like to vote elsewhere (at another polling station), or you live with disability or reduced mobility. You can get information about these options as follows.

  • I have a residence in Hungary

Parliamentary Elections

  • Voting at another polling station: in the parliamentary elections you can cast your vote at any of the freely chosen polling stations of the country by submitting an application for changing district online or in paper.
  • Voting at foreign representations: you can apply for enrolment in the foreign representation electoral register, if you would like to cast your vote abroad at one of the Hungarian Embassies or Consulates.

Parliamentary By-elections

  • Voting at another polling station: you can cast your vote at any of the freely chosen polling stations within the parliamentary single-member constituency concerned in the by- elections by submitting an application for changing polling station online or in paper.

 Local and national minority elections
  • Voting according to the place of registered residence: you can vote at the place of your registered residence in the local elections, if your residence is registered at least 30 days before election day has been set, and it is still valid on election day. Regarding this you may submit your application online or in paper.

European Parliamentary Elections
  • Voting at another polling station: in the European parliamentary elections you can cast your vote at any of the freely chosen polling stations of the country by submitting an application for changing district online or in paper.
  • Voting at foreign representations: you can apply for enrolment in the foreign representation electoral register, if you would like to cast your vote abroad at one of the Hungarian Embassies or Consulates.
  • Voting for candidates according to your residence abroad: if you would like to vote rather for candidates according to your residence abroad than party lists of Hungary, then under the legislation of the recipient country, you can apply for enrolment into the register of the given EU Member State. In this case the National Election Office deletes you from the Hungarian register, preventing the possibility of double-voting.
Referendums
  • Voting at another polling station: in the national referendums, you can cast your vote at any of the freely chosen polling stations of the country by submitting an application for changing district online or in paper.
  • Voting at foreign representations: you can apply for enrolment in the foreign representation electoral register, if you would like to cast your vote abroad at one of the Hungarian Embassies or Consulates.
