General information:

If a media service provider offering a nationally available linear media service not qualifying as a public service media service, or a media service provider offering a linear media service available exclusively via the internet (hereinafter jointly referred to as the “Media Service Provider”), intends to publish political advertising during the campaign period preceding the general election of Members of the National Assembly scheduled for 12 April 2026, it shall notify the National Election Commission (NEC) of this intention no later than 21 February 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

The legal declaration concerning the publication of political advertising must be made separately with regard to nominating organizations setting up party lists and separately with regard to nominating organizations setting up national minority lists.

If a press product intends to publish political advertisements during the campaign period preceding the general election of Members of the National Assembly scheduled for 12 April 2026, it shall submit its advertising rates to the State Audit Office of Hungary (ÁSZ) no later than 11 February 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

The notification deadlines for both political advertising and political advertisements are binding deadlines, meaning that if the media content provider fails to make the required declaration to the NEC or the ÁSZ by the deadline, it may not publish political advertising or political advertisements during the campaign period.

1. Information relating to the notification of the publication of political advertising:

During the campaign period preceding the general election of Members of the National Assembly, the Media Service Provider is entitled to publish political advertising on the basis of a notification made pursuant to Section 147/F of Act XXXVI of 2013 on Election Procedure.

The notification shall include the following:

• the designation of the nationally available linear media service(s) and/or the linear media service(s) available exclusively via the internet through which political advertising is to be published; and
• the duration allocated for the publication of political advertising, specified separately for nominating organizations setting up party lists and for nominating organizations setting up national minority lists, which in total may not be less than 300 minutes.

The duration allocated for the publication of political advertising by nominating organizations setting up party lists may not be less than 235 minutes.

The duration allocated for the publication of political advertising by nominating organizations setting up nationality lists may not be less than 65 minutes.

The notification may be submitted on working days during office hours in person at 1054 Budapest, Alkotmány Street 3, by post to 1397 Budapest, P.O. Box 547, or electronically via the official electronic gateway (NEC KRID: 674469907) or by email to nvb@nvi.hu.

The notification must be received by the NEC no later than 21 February 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

2. Information relating to the publication of political advertisements:

During the campaign period preceding the general election of Members of the National Assembly, political advertisements may be published exclusively by a press product whose advertising rates have been registered by the ÁSZ on the basis of a notification submitted no later than 11 February 2026 at 4:00 p.m. The press product is also required to publish the rates submitted to the ÁSZ on its own website.
