Voting
Although registration in the electoral register can be requested from the age of 17, only those who have reached the age of 18 (or are under age but married) by the date of the election are eligible to vote.
Voters living abroad can exercise their right to vote if they are included in the central electoral register on the basis of an application received by the National Election Office no later than 25 days before the election.
Receipt of the voting package
The National Election Office will send the voting package to the voter immediately after the ballot paper has been prepared (approximately 18-25 days before the date of the election)
- by post to the address where the voter requested the voting package to be sent at the time of registration, or
- to the designated foreign representation or Hungarian municipality where they requested to receive the voting package at the time of registration. Voters can collect the voting package sent to the foreign representation or Hungarian municipality in person between the 15th and 2nd days prior to the election, during working hours.
The voting package contains
- the postal voting ballot paper (which is valid without a stamp),
- a form for the voter's identification,
- an envelope for the ballot paper (inner envelope),
- a return envelope addressed to the National Election Office, which can be posted free of charge
- information on how to vote.

The voting
The voter
- fills in the ballot paper,
- places the ballot paper in the inner envelope,
- seals the inner envelope,
- fills in the identification statement,
- places the inner envelope and the completed identification statement in the return envelope, and seals it.
Returning the reply envelope to the National Election Office
Voters can send their return envelopes to the National Election Office in the following ways:
- by post (free of charge, no stamp required); it must be received by the National Election Office by midnight on the day before the election (Saturday);
- handed in at any foreign representation during working hours in the 15 days prior to the election;
- submitted at the foreign representation during the period of voting at the foreign representation;
- voters can also submit the envelope in Hungary, at the headquarters of the 106 individual constituencies, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the day of the election.
