Information on data recorded in the election IT system
The person concerned may request information from the National Election Office regarding their data recorded in the election IT system.
Eligible persons
Persons eligible for the procedure
- all voters,
- any person eligible to vote in any election falling within the scope of the Ve. who does not have a Hungarian address, who does not have the right to vote due to being under the age of majority, who is over the age of 17 and has been entered in the central register upon request,
- citizens listed in the register of citizens without voting rights, and
- anyone who has initiated a procedure with the National Election Office or requested information on a matter.
What you need to do
To exercise your right, you must submit an application.
The application can be submitted electronically, in person, or through an authorized representative.
1. Electronically
The application can be submitted electronically – with electronic identification – on the Personalized Administration Interface available on the www.magyarorszag.hu website by clicking here.
2. By delivery agent to any local election office.
The form required for submitting the request through an authorized representative (in pdf format) can be downloaded here.
If the National Election Office approves the request, it will issue an official certificate containing the voter's data registered in the election information system.
Deadlines
Applications may be submitted at any time, regardless of elections.
The National Election Office shall process the application within one month of its receipt. The date of receipt of the application shall not be included in the deadline.
If necessary, the National Election Office may extend this deadline by a further two months, taking into account the complexity of the application and the number of applications. The National Election Office shall inform the person concerned of the extension of the deadline within one month of receipt of the application, stating the reasons for the delay.
Documents to be submitted
No documents other than the application form need to be submitted.
Payment obligation
Submitting the application does not entail any payment obligation.

Higher authority/legal remedy
An appeal may be lodged against the decision of the National Election Office assessing the application.
The appeal must be lodged no later than the fifteenth day following the decision.
The appeal must be submitted in writing to the National Election Office.

- in person: 1054 Budapest, Alkotmány utca 3. or
- via e-paper service.
The National Election Office shall decide on the appeal no later than on the fifteenth day following its receipt, or in the case of an appeal against a decision made after the election has been called, no later than on the working day following its receipt, but no later than 3 p.m. on the second day before the vote.
- If the National Election Office upholds the applicant's appeal, it shall issue an official certificate regarding the data processed in the election information system.
- If the National Election Office rejects the applicant's appeal, it shall submit the appeal to the Budapest Metropolitan Court no later than the last day of the deadline available for adjudication, which shall decide on the appeal on the fifteenth day following its receipt, in the case of a decision taken after the election has been called, within three days of its receipt, but no later than the day before the vote.
Legal representation is not mandatory in court proceedings.
If the court finds the appeal to be well-founded, it will amend the decision; otherwise, it will reject the appeal.

- has the option of turning to the court to protect their data, which will act on the matter as a matter of priority. In this case, you are free to decide whether to file your claim with the court competent for your place of residence (permanent address) or place of stay (temporary address), or with the court competent for the seat of the National Election Office. You can find the court with jurisdiction over your place of residence or temporary residence at https://birosag.hu/birosag-kereso. The Metropolitan Court has jurisdiction over the case based on the location of the National Election Office.
Other information
The data subject may request access to their personal data from the National Election Office as the data controller pursuant to Article 15 of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Based on this right, you are entitled to receive feedback from the National Election Office as to whether your personal data is being processed and, if so, you are entitled to access your personal data and the information listed in the General Data Protection Regulation (e.g. the purpose of data processing, legal basis, recipients or categories of recipients of personal data, in the case of data transfer to a third country or international organization, information related thereto; the duration of data processing or its criteria, the rights of the data subject, the possibilities for legal remedy, the consequences of failure to provide data).
Definitions
personal data: any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
Data subject: a natural person who is affected by the data processing carried out by the National Election Office, whether identified or identifiable.
Data processing: any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
controller: a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; where the purposes and means of processing are determined by Union or Member State law, Union or Member State law may also lay down specific criteria for the controller or for the designation of the controller.
