The NEC has drawn lots to determine the order of the national minority lists on the ballot papers

The National Election Commission has drawn lots to determine the order of the national minority lists which were announced by the deadline on the ballot papers. The deadline for announcing national lists of minorities was 7 May at 4 pm.

Budapest, 7 May 2024. At its session today, the National Election Commission drew lots to determine the order of the national minority lists of the 13 minorities in Hungary. According to the law, the election commissions will draw lots to determine the order of the announced candidates and lists after 4 pm on the deadline for the announcement of candidates and lists. The deadline for the announcement of national minority lists was 7 May 2024 at 4 pm.

The condition for drawing up a national minority list is the collection of the number of recommendations specified in the annex to the NEC's decision on the calling of elections to the national minority self-government. A minority organisation could also put forward a list in addition to collecting the required number of recommendations, if it has put forward an independent candidate in at least ten percent of the elections of representatives of municipal minority self-government and has collected the recommendations of at least two percent of the voters. In the absence of a designated minority municipal election, any minority organisation may nominate a list.

For each of the 13 nationalities, the NEC has drawn lots to determine the order of the announced national lists, as follows:

The NEC approves the ballot papers for the election of the national minority self-government after all decisions on the announced lists have become final.
