IX. The procedure concerning the mayor and the body of representatives

The mayor shall announce the initiative aimed at ordering the referendum to the body of representatives during the next session after receipt of information (Article 138 of AEP).

If the initiative aimed at ordering the referendum has been submitted late, or as a result of the signature verification the local or regional election committee has established that the number of valid signatures does not attain the number determined under the municipality decree, the mayor or the chairman of the County Assembly/Mayor of the Capital shall dismiss the initiative (Article 140 of AEP). In this case no legal remedies are possible.
